In the 1990s, the Russian political practice seriously undermined the foundations of the federal structure. The degree and form of decentralization shall be established by means of the mechanism of distribution of powers, taking into account the specifics of one or another region. One should also note the centralized nature inherent to it, as well as the reasonable combination of the dualistic and cooperative relations between the Center and the subjects of the Federation. To sum up, it can be stated that some republics managed to achieve the system of political institutions independently, which will ensure them a stable balance of forces and the preservation of democratic principles within the country.
